I love the BAT, but I can't seem to separate its existence from their creators and their particular interests, so I was wondering if there's any particular publisher centric crypto currency available?
BAT was always a futility token. They should have used a currency people actually want like Ethereum or Bitcoin. I don't see a reason to add a new asset to their system.
I don't see a reason to add a new asset to their system.
If they held an ICO, then that probably explains their reasoning.
Yeah I guess lol
I never quite understood why something doesn't exist that just uses ethereum straight.

Care to elaborate? There's a good chance that any other replacement tokens / projects that I could name may suffer from the exact same issues… on a different scale.
I can try to elaborate, but I'm not sure how to describe it
it's more of a branding issue in my mind.
Google and fb take in most of the ad money floating around partially because there's just not much visibility into the entire process. In fact, if I had to guess, that's probably the main reason. If it was a highly interpretable process, plenty of more nimble companies would have stolen google and facebook's shirt off their back.
basic attention token comes along and says, hey we are going to simplify the process by having a token everyone can track and there's only gonna be three parties: publishers, users, and distributors.
Then I buy BAT, and what happens: I have no idea where my money went, all I know is that BAT appreciates.
I don't know if my transaction is going to a publisher I actually care about.
So my point is, is there an alternative that actually allows me to weight which publishers I care about more on the market of attention
I think he's referring to the issue where it's hard to directly receive your rewards without going through an intermediary. But from what I understand eventually we will get that functionality. Although even I personally doubt it.
