Long time bitcoiner, exploring ethereum. No, not because of today’s pump, have been hodling eth for years. Looked for a Eth Beginners sub, but didn’t see one, let me know if this belongs elsewhere.
Made my metamask wallet, backed up password and mnemonic seed.
Bought a .crypto web3 domain.
Linked unstoppable with metamask.
What exactly is happening? I understand I will take custody of my domain, but where? Stored on my Eth address that metamask assigned to me?
Is it a erc20 token? A collectible? Can I send a collectible to an ETH address?
Some clarity here is appreciated.
In short, domains, tokens, and collectibles are all just programs running on Ethereum. A program ("smart contract") can have a list of accounts and what they own. Basically, you can make public ledgers
So it's not like a token is "transfered into" your wallet. The smart contract ledger simply lists your eth account + what you have
How you interact with smart contracts depends on their functionality, but a lot of things have standardized around ERC20 tokens and ERC721 collectibles
