My ledger says that it needs to update my account and wants me to connect the device, is this expected? (i.redd.it). 7 . . . Being terrified you will lose your money is a feature not a bug.

HAHAHAHAHA that is just so perfect I think I might frame this quote and put it on my wall.

I have no issues but if you can wait depending on when the update I usually try and give it a week or so in case it comes out the update had a vulnerability or something. I have no I idea if that can happen but it's just a precaution

I was gonna say "Yeah, to be expected at times" but never thought about the waiting a week. I'm pretty sure Ledger is about as secure as it gets but you can never have too many precautions.

Good Call.

The fun part is that if everyone waits a week… you'll be in with the betatesters.

Only way is to have two, update one first and if it doesn't fail, update the other a week later.

Exactly what I do. Hate keeping track of it though

Get two ledgers. Update alternately

This

Ponzi

Yeah this is normal… It lets it find your ERC20 tokens etc on the address, did that to all eth accounts after the app enabled that functionality it doesnt actually change stuff in the blockchain

The ledger update was a nightmare. Took me like 6 hours and 3 laptops to find one that it wouldn’t glitch out on.

Huge hunk of shit and I’ll never use it again after that. It’s a well documented problem.

I never had an update taken langer than 10 minutes…. odd

Get a Tangem wallet and save your 6 hours for better purpose: https://shop.tangem.com/products/tangem-eth-original

Tangem is not a comparable product as seeds are hard-coded into the product and can't be backed up.

That is not entirely correct. Let me get the record straight.

There is no hard coding. The keys are generated within the secure chip in conformity with FIPS 140-2. At your command, in your own hands.

As of backing up, would you rather have a seed than can be copied than multiple keys that cannot be compromised? Your choice.

I just updated about a few days ago and everything was good

It hurts me when I see people fearful of using a hardware wallet. So much attack surface translates into lack of trust, unfortunately.

If I were you I would switch to this wallet without all the recovery passphrase drama and forget all clunky operations: https://shop.tangem.com/products/tangem-eth-original

Full disclosure: I am the CEO of the company making that wallet.

Well I definitely don’t trust your opinions on it then….

How does anyone know this isn’t just another scam?

You don't, and even if it isn't another scam, it's a new enough product that consumers should be wary.

From a 5-minute glance at the product documentation, the most glaring issue is that the seed is hard-coded into the device, which means that users can't make backups. Lose the wallet and you lose your ether. Of course, Tangem makes the usual "feature, not a bug" pitch, but I don't expect this product to last. Literally the only thing it has going for it is the form factor.

I hate that you responded to me also instead of him 😂 oh boy, I’m happy about the recent gains but I’m scared we’re back in the bubble again…

idk man. i've given up on swing trading, so as long as the long-term trend is up, i don't really care what crypto does.
that said, my XMR bags are heavy and it feels good man

I keep trying to trade and every time I do , I fail so fucking terribly, I am scared I am in a Truman show scenario

I’m down 10%

Nope, again, you need to get your facts right:

There is no hard coding. The keys are generated within the secure chip in conformity with FIPS 140-2. At your command, in your own hands.

As of backing up, would you rather have a seed than can be copied than multiple keys that cannot be compromised? Your choice.

In your 5-minute glance, you missed a few fundamental things:
– Kudelski Security audited Tangem's firmware;
– Tangem's R&D comes from more than a decade of experience in secure systems;
– Backup should be done using cryptographic properties of blockchain protocols, not by writing down seeds;
– The Tangem SDK is open source, so you can see for yourself how the interface works. In fact, you can build your own interface.

To be fair, there's a lot to it. I'm happy to explain more in detail 🙂

No opinions were written. Just an observation and a recommendation.

o·pin·ion noun a view or judgment formed about something

Bro how are you a CEO but you don’t know the dictionary definition of an opinion?

Edit: wait I guess that’s just most CEO’s

I agree with your opinion on opinions but no need to be all Bro passive/aggressive.

You’re right my bad
