I have come over from the bitcoin side of crypto. I know nothing about ethereum and im really curious and would like to broaden my knowledge of crypto. Can somebody link me to a few articles or website where i can read up on eth and how it works in comparison to bitcoin? Thank you in advance
https://ethhub.io/ click on "docs" is a great place to start.
one place to start might be the Year in Ethereum 2019, primarily authored by Josh Stark https://medium.com/@jjmstark/the-year-in-ethereum-2019-242012e4276d
The major difference (IMO) is that ETH is a turning complete language. Meaning that with ETH, you can make interesting smart contracts. On bitcoin, you can’t do much more than buy and sell. Bitcoin has smart contracts, but they are turning incomplete by design.
This protects bitcoin from having dangerous smart contracts that can do crazy stuff. With ETH, you can build more powerful applications, but also more dangerous in the same sense. It’s a bit of a difference in philosophy.
Something important to note, because of this, it’s hard to say one is “better” than the other, since they both have their use cases.
